The first step of the process is to speak with us about your child's needs and goals. We will also need the following information:
- Recommendation/ Prescription for Occupational therapy assessment with diagnosis code signed by an MD and dated within 60 days.
- Copy of reports / notes from prior treatments including OT, ABA and ST if applicable.
- A copy off the member's insurance ID card (front and back)
- Therapy Intake form including consent for services and treatment signed.
- Please note that some insurances may be subject to prior authorization from your insurance carrier.
What does an assessment entail?
After we receive a valid referral and/or approval from your insurance carrier to conduct an assessment, we will spend time with you and your child to comprehensively evaluate needs for treatment. We then submit our treatment plan to your insurance for authorization to provide 1-on-1 skilled Occupational Therapy.
A completed authorization for therapy usually takes between 2 and 3 weeks after the assessment is conducted.
How does Occupational Therapy work?
The therapy consists of 1-on-1 sessions with your child for a minimum of 30 minutes per session. The current needs of your child determine the number of medically necessary treatment hours per week; typically ranging from 2-3 hours. We can conduct the sessions at your home via telehealth, school, and at our clinic.
Therapy is usually authorized by the insurance carrier for a period of 3 months to 6 months subject to benefit eligibility.
How can I monitor my child's progress?
After the third month of services, we will provide you with a summary report and charts related to your child's progress. A clinician will go over and explain results up to date and discuss future directions with you. These meetings will be conducted every 90 days to ensure consistency in expectations. Weekly reports on the child’s progress may be provided to you as well.
